Writing in the Ladies Home Journal in 1900, John Elfreth Watkins predicted the following :

* Microwave instant meals
* Telephones being used across the world
* Satelite broadcasts and television 
* 150MPH trains
* Photographs transmitted via wire services
* Electrically heated gardening to grow vegetables 
* Tanks, aeroplanes, warships 
* Central heating and hot & cold running water
